Oro/ Danzinger

I am stuck on Michigan time, which meant I woke up at 4am California time today.  Coffee has been my crutch this morning.  I took a walk outside the hotel for 45 minutes before the sun came up, very peaceeful and quiet as not to many people are up at 4:30 on a Sunday morning :)  It was a bit chilly, but no snow or ice, so I shouldn't be complaining.

1st stop is Oro/ Danzinger
The big news at this stop is that Fides has purchased Oro Farms.  This means that including the line of existing Oro varieties, they will begin supplying the Fides varieties for the 2012 season.

Standout varieties

Verbena Donlena Lavender Grace-  this is not new, but the color caught my eye this year.  Very upright habit, but the flw color is very impressive.

Dahlia Starsister Crimson Picotee- Huge flws for a smaller dahlia plant ~4.5".  The red is a deep ruby and the white picotee makes it look striking. I wouldn't say the plant habit is perfect, but it would probably be okay.
Lobularia Silver Stream- Compared to PW, the price should be much less, since it won't carry the PW RTM fee.  Danzinger says it is more compact than snow princess, and it does look that way.

Calibrachoa Noa Amber Star-  This is not new, but the rust orange/red star pattern is unique.  Sorry for the horrible focus, wont' let that happen again.  Mounded/ trailing habit.

Food:  When in Rome...  Gilroy is the Garlic capital, so at 9am I started the day off right with some picked garlic and a garlic pickle.
